Dog Parks in The Villages

Villagers love their pets, dogs especially. Luckily there are a couple opportunities for a day at the park with fido. From The Villages mail bag:

Good Morning Ryan,

We have made a reservation to ‘check out’ the Villages in December and forgot to ask if there are any dog parks in the village?

Thank you for your time.

PH,

There is “Paradise Dog Park” in The Villages. Also a park called “Doggy Do” in Lady Lake.

I looked to see if either had a website or contact information online but neither one did. You might also try looking here: http://www.districtgov.org/vccdd/recreation/index.asp

Good luck!

Dining and Shopping in The Villages

From The Villages Florida Book mail bag:

Ryan,

I have a friend that is moving to The Villages and we are throwing a going away party. People keep asking what are the popular spots as far a restaurants and shopping go so that they can buy her gift certificates. I would appreciate any info that you could give me. They are a couple that are in their late fifties. She enjoys budget shopping and good food. Can you help me? Thanks

Hi G,

At this site, you will find a list of some of the restaurants, shops, and entertainment (movie theaters, etc.) that are available in The Villages.

You can click on each location for a list of current tenants (businesses). Hope that helps you select something she would like.

Parkinson’s Support Groups in The Villages

I am always happy to respond to questions about The Villages from folks whether they’ve purchased my book or not.

A couple weeks ago I got an email that hit particularly close to home. The person who wrote me was thinking of moving to The Villages and had a spouse who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s and they were looking for a Parkinson’s support group in The Villages.

I was happy to help find out some resources for them to look into, as someone very close to me also has Parkinson’s.

An initial google search didn’t yield much of anything so I decided to check out The Villages Recreation Newsletter. Here I found information on meeting dates for the Parkinson’s Support Group and also a Parkinson’s Exercise Support Group.

I didn’t seek permission to publish the contact person’s phone numbers (I assume its their home numbers), so I won’t do that here. But click here to read the newsletter yourself. The Parkinson’s Support Group Information is on Page 18 in July’s newsletter (note the page may be different based on the month but it will be listed in the “Support Groups” section).
