What’s New in the 2011 Edition?

Last week I sent an email to all past buyers of The Villages Florida Book with a link for them to download the revised and updated version that I recently published.

If you’re just quietly sitting there reading my weekly emails but haven’t bought the book yet, you’re missing out on all the good stuff :)

Here are just a few of the comments I received after sending out the update:

I am truly impressed with this gesture on your part and am thrilled that I purchased your book. I have recommended your book to several people and will continue to do so. Thank you so much for the service you provide.

Thanks so much for updating. My condo is on the market and I am looking forward to a move to the Villages. Your book is terrific and a big help for those of us who are mobilizing to move there in the future. Thanks for putting it together and, of course, adding to it is a great bonus for all of us. Glad you are so dedicated to your work!

Even got a review on Amazon.com:

What’s New in This Edition?

The book didn’t grow that much in size (page count went from 172 to 184), but quite a bit of the information within changed. Here’s a breakdown of some of the changes and additions:

Chapter 2: Updated a lot of the statistics (# of golf courses, etc.) and included many more current stats

Chapter 4: Updated the lists of Championship and Executive golf courses to include those that have opened since the last edition

Chapter 5: Updated Club and Activity information, added information on Tennis in The Villages, places of worship, and politics.

Chapter 6: Updated to reflect businesses that have closed/new ones that have opened in town squares and shopping centers

Chapter 7: Updated to include information on the new Moffitt Cancer Center, USF Health Partnership, and more.

Chapter 8: Includes expanded information on the Lifestyle Preview, renting a home in The Villages, and more

Chapter 10: Updated to include new neighborhoods built since last publication

Chapter 16: The Florida real estate contract (FAR/BAR) underwent a complete overhaul in 2010 so this chapter is updated with explanation of all the important major sections of the new contract. This took a while to complete but anyone thinking of purchasing a resale home in The Villages will certainly benefit

That’s it for the major changes, but you’ll find a lot of other little changes throughout the text.

With this new edition, (as you might have guessed after reading the Amazon review above) I’m going to begin selling the book on Amazon.com. The Kindle version is available now, and the paperback should be available in a week or so.
