It just got a little bit harder to find homeowner’s insurance in The Villages. Much like its competitor State Farm, Nationwide Insurance has decided to stop writing new homeowner’s insurance policies in Florida, including The Villages. In addition, they are dropping 60,000 current policy holders. No word yet if any of those are located here in The Villages.
There are still plenty of alternatives for homeowners in The Villages. The level of risk here in The Villages is certainly much lower than on any of Florida’s coasts, so getting homeowner’s insurance is not too much of a challenge. It will just be interesting to see how many other companies follow the lead of State Farm and Nationwide and leave Floridians high and dry.
